What Is A Sales Rep
We all have our own perception when we ask "What is a sales rep " or "what is a good sales rep", or what are the qualities of a good/great sales representative. That being said... let's stick with... What is a sales rep. A sales rep should be someone who comes to an appointment with a good understanding of the business where he is meeting as well as an overall understanding of the prospect/customer he/she is meeting. A sales rep is someone who has a plan, a goal, and good open ended questions prepared for the meeting. Instead of thinking what is a sales rep. Think about a consultant and a good sales rep should model a consultant's behaviors.
What Is A Sales Rep
Most importantly, when thinking about the question... what is a sales rep or what makes a good sales representative, a sales rep is someone who has developed the fine art of listening. Not just listening, but listening to understand, which is more difficult that you might think. It takes practice and patience with our focus on what the customer/prospect is saying and not on the next point we want to discuss. Our body language & eyes have to communicate to the customer/prospect that you are very interested in what they are saying.
