Hell, a place or a state?

Heaven and hell are conscious states of being in which the soul of each individual tastes the pleasure or bitterness of their actions. The pinnacle of the present state in heaven, however, is communion with Jesus Christ, the angels, and the saints, followed by the contemplation of God as the culmination of this communion. The vision of God, which the righteous enjoy because "the pure in heart shall see God" (Matthew 5:8), is not a complete vision since God is infinite. Nonetheless, there is an infinite growth, progress in this vision or contemplation of the divine beauty of God that continues throughout eternity, and this is due to the love that God has for humanity, through which He elevates them to an understanding beyond nature.
