To complete this quest, it is required to complete The Whispering Hillock. During this quest, the player has to make a difficult decision that will affect the fate of the Strenger couple.
The recommended choice in the Whispering Hillock quest is to kill the spirit. The battle is not overly difficult, but if you do still have trouble, you can choose to trick it in order to kill the spirit while avoiding combat.
You can also finish the quest Return to Crookbag Bog quicker, avoiding extra objectives which are required if you choose to free the spirit.
