In this astrophotography video, I use a new camera control software called Astro Photography Tool (APT) to photograph the Whale Galaxy. I set up my camera and telescope for a night of deep-sky imaging under clear, moonless skies. Catalogued as NGC 4631, the Whale Galaxy is located in the constellation Canes Venatici and lies 25 Million Light Years Away. The Whale Galaxy is classified as a barred spiral galaxy, with a small companion galaxy (NGC 4627) close by. Using my Explore Scientific ED102 and ZWO ASI071MC-COOL (Color) camera, I was able to capture over 5 hours worth of total exposure time on this galaxy.
