Yezidi New Year

The Yezidis gather at Lalish Temple to celebrate their New Year. April holds special significance for Yezidis, who boil and color eggs, don traditional attire, and light candles to commemorate the universe's creation, honoring nature and fertility. Yezidism is one of the oldest and least understood faiths. In the aftermath of the 2014 Yezidi Genocide, the community deserves global support and attention to preserve their unique faith and traditions.
