Let’s explore “The Holy of Holies” (Djeser-Djeseru)- a thousands years old ancient Egyptian temple in Deir el-Bahari, Western Thebes (Luxor) commissioned by the most famous female pharaoh - Hatshepsut. She lived during the 18th dynasty (Thutmose III, Amenhotep IV, Akhenaten, Queen Nefertiti, Tutankhamun). Her majestic temple is, without any doubt, a masterpiece of ancient Egyptian architecture thanks to its simple style excellently integrated into the rough cliffs of the surrounding landscape.

Hatshepsut not only commissioned great building projects, but also re-established economic relations with the land of Punt - a legendary place, believed to have been an ancestral home of ancient Egyptians.
