Shane:                                                 Hey everyone, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today, I have a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander, and I want to walk you through how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with four-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. Hang this on your vehicle, it's going to give you a lot of different options to get lighting functions to either a trailer, maybe you have a cargo carrier. To get lighting functions back to them, so you're not only safe, but you're legal. Everybody around you knows what you're doing. This wiring harness is designed to live inside of the vehicle, so when we're not using it, we simply can roll it up, put it in a compartment in the back here, and it stays out of the weather and it's ready to go for the next time. When we're ready to use it, you simply pull it out, and you want to make sure it's laying over top of this rubber piece, staying away from anywhere where the hatch attaches down there, or locks in place. This wiring harness is going to give us 2.1 amps per trigger for our stop and turn signals, and 5.6 amps per trigger for our tail lights.

Now what's nice about this is it's going to have a converter box on it, and what the converter box does is when you're hooked up to a trailer, if there's any wiring issue with a trailer, it protects the wiring on the vehicle from any back feed. As far as the installation process, it's pretty straightforward. You're going to connect to your factory wiring, or factory plugs, behind each taillight. The only thing you really have to do after that is run a power wire up to the battery. Now that we've gone over some of the features let's walk you through how to get it installed. To start our installation.

We need to remove all of our floor coverings. We're going to remove this tray, our threshold, and then our tow hooks on each side. Use a Phillips head screwdriver, you want two screws down on the bottom of this tray.Slide this out, and set it aside. Take your threshold, and we're just going to pull up on it, and we'll set that aside. And we're going to have a tow hook on each side.

You can either use a 10 millimeter socket or a Phillips head. Remove the bolt in the center, and then the tow hook. We're going to remove this screw here, on each side. And then right up here, where you have another Phillips inside there, and you remove that one. We're going to do that on each side, also. What we need to do...

You're going to pull back, or out, towards the center, kind of release the panel. We want, as we want access to this plug right here that goes into the back of our taillight. We're going to remove the plug or separate the two ends. Right down here there's a tab, we're going to push it in. Right down there, you're going to push that tab in, and it allows you to separate it from the hook. Then you're going to take your wiring harness. We're going to take this red wire, that's coming off our converter box. You get a black bundle of wire that comes in your kit. We're going to strip back the end on the black side, or on the black wire. We're going to add on butt connector that comes in your kit. We're going to touch the red wire to the other end. We're going to take the other end of our black wire, we need to get it outside of the vehicle. Now you can try to route it through all the panels inside the vehicle, and then out to the engine compartment, but it makes it a little bit easier if you do it this way. Right down here, you'll see this box, inside that box there's a little flats. And what that's for is when you close your doors and the windows are up, it releases pressure inside the car, so your windows don't break. We're going to take this wire, we're going to feed it right through that flap, and it's going to come out at the bottom of the vehicle. It really doesn't matter which one. That's going to allow us to run our wire up the frame rail, right up to the engine compartment, to the battery. Now we're going to take our wiring harness, with the yellow wire and brown, we're going to connect it on our driver's side. All we're going to do is we're going match the two ends of the two wires that we disconnected.Next, we're going to mount our converter box. You're going to have some two sided tape that comes in your kit, press it into place. We need to mount this in a location that is going to be out of the way, but it is going to stick on there. Right along this back edge here, right down in this corner. Let me see it down, just like that. Give it a good push. Make sure it's held in good. And then we'll come back and we'll do our ground wi
