Today I demonstrate how to germinate citrus seeds. Planting citrus seeds is easy, provided you do not let the seeds dry out. Plant them fresh from the fruit, if possible, or keep them slightly damp until you can plant. I have grown multiple citrus trees from seed and visited a dozen seedling citrus trees which were bearing wonderful fruit. Why not grow your own citrus from seed? I've had seedling oranges with great flavor... wonderful (though somewhat small) pink grapefruit germinated from the seeds of a store-bought fruit... I've seen beautiful lemons from seed... go for it! And if you don't like what you get, graft! There's nothing to lose. So how long does it take citrus to germinate? About 1-2 months. Keep them watered but not soaked and soon your citrus will germinate. I'm growing lemons from seed in this video, but Key lime seeds germinate and grow into great trees, as do every other citrus I've seen.
