How to Build a Loft in a Shed

Whether you have a she-shed,
Whether you have a she-shed, garden shed, small shed, greenhouse, or playhouse here are steps on how to build a loft in your own shed. This loft tutorial will walk you through building a loft for a small space. Along with my best organizing shed tips and other tricks at the end.
Our shed is 8' x 10'. These are the directions to fit a shed of this size.

SUPPLIES:
2 x 4″ wood (how much depends on the width and depth of your loft)
3/4″ plywood (also depends on the width and depth of your loft)
Hammer
Nails
Hammer Drill
Long screws
Saw and/or miter saw (we used a saw the whole time but a miter saw works great for shorter cuts)
Sawhorses
Level
Carpenters Pencil
Triangle carpenter square measuring ruler
Chalk line
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Measure and cut 2 x 4" wood and attach with screws on back wall on studs
2. Use level to mark side walls level with the back 2 x 4
3. Measure and cut front 2 x 4 and attach it to the studs
4. Screw in front boad of loft
5. Cut two 12" pieces of 2 x 4 and attach to the corner boards in the back
6. Cut floor joists and screw them on the ends.
7. Cut more floor joists and screw them in between.
8. Measure the top of the floor frame for plywood floor
9. Cut the plywood floor and set it on the floor frame
10. Screw the plywood onto the frame
If you are building a loft for a playhouse or where anyone will be on top of it make sure to add a rail for safety.
