https://reverb.com/item/11000110-2006-gibson-vegas-standard-tobacco-sunburst-the-baby-trini-lopez-model When you're selling things online in multiple locations (such as eBay and Reverb) you have to stay on top of your listings or else you might accidentally sell your item to two different people and have a tough decision to make. The story behind this guitar is it was listed on Reverb in the afternoon and this was the finish I was looking for to do a full review on in order to complete having one of each of the Vegas Gibsons on my channel. I made a strong offer hoping the seller would accept or at least counter with a better offer. I was not willing to pay the buy-it-now price and the dealer did not get back to me in a timely manner. In the mean-time, someone else had also made an offer. Different from what I state in the video, the counter offer for the guitar was sent a little past midnight and I was already in bed that night. The seller countered both of the offerers and the other guy beat me to accepting it. I was a little bit sad that I let the perfect finish of a hard-to-find guitar get away. While looking for more guitars, I realized this guitar was still listed on eBay. I checked back the next day to see if it was still there - and it was! It had not been relisted on Reverb either. This got me curious - "What would happen if I purchased this guitar on eBay?" I figured the dealer would cancel the order within a few hours telling me it had already been sold. I just had to find out so I went ahead and paid the asking price for this guitar and eagerly awaited to see if this guitar would actually show up. About 2 days later of no contact with the seller, I got a shipped notification from eBay and then it was at my house a few days later. Now, my offer was $50 higher than the accepted Reverb offer - but is that really why the dealer decided to sell it to me? It is possible the Reverb buyer never followed through with payment, but it is also possible they were simply waiting for it to be shipped. eBay is less forgiving than Reverb when it comes to canceling orders though, so maybe that had something to do with it. If I 'stole' this guitar from you, reach out to me with a screen shot of your canceled order and I'll offer you a special price on this one. The Vegas Series of guitars were made in the mid-2000s. They were made in the Standard and High Roller Version. The Standard had 6 finishes - Cherry, Wine Red, Tobacco Sunburst, Vintage Sunburst, Natural and Black, and the High Roller had 4 finishes - Purple, Green, Orange and Red Bursts. The Standard is basically a tribute to the Trini Lopez or Dave Grohl model of ES 335. It has split diamond inlays, ebony fretboard, gold frets, diamond f-holes and is just a great playing guitar! The Tobacco sunburst is the most special finish as it is the only one that got a 'tear drop' shaped burst. All of the other Standards and High Roller models had rimburst paint jobs. This guitar comes with its original Gibson USA hardshell case. It shows light signs of usage and wear from storage and light travel. It holds the guitar well and all latches and the handle are still present and functioning. The Guitar! Here it is - the most desirable finish on the Vegas Standard. The one they got right. The Tobacco Sunburst is the only one where they did the correct tear drop shaped burst. In fact, it is the ONLY Vegas series guitar out of the Standard and High Roller line up that got this. This has to be my favorite finish option and they are HARD to find. This guitar has light signs of wear and tear. Most notable is a few light impressions/marks on the headstock from a clip on tuner. There are polishing swirls and light picking scratches, but nothing to take away from the beauty of this guitar. Conclusion The Vegas series of guitars are hard to come by - but finding this finish is tricky - especially in clean shape!
