I show you how to
I show you how to make a swage block from wood, incase you don't have a nice metal swage block yet. Making a dishing stump such as is shown, is great for forging copper bowls with. I make this video in conjunction with my series on making copper bowls.
My first wood swage block has lasted me at least 6 years. My swage block is made of red oak.
Eventually you can upgrade to a swage block for sale online or through a swage block manufacture at a blacksmithing or metalworking show.

This type of wood swage block is a great blacksmith tools for beginners. There is always a wide variety of blacksmith tools and equipment to be had, but this is a great start!
