Like usual, I’m a big fan of Martin Logan quality. The cabinet is nice and sturdy and the speaker components are high quality.
Like the Motion 12 I reviewed earlier, I’m not a fan of this style binding posts that ML used, as it doesn’t have a clock or tight feel when I press in the banana plugs but I never had any issues with connection, from a sound perspective.
Sound - 8.0
Again, I love these folded motion tweeters but the larger tweeter in the 12’s definitely has the upper hand (no surprise). The mid-bass is excellent and placement isn’t as tricky as the 12’s, due to the down firing port.
These sparkle in the highs and have great mid-bass but you will need a quality sub, to anchor the low-end.
MSRP Rating - 8.5
At $99 a pair, these Motion 10’s are a pretty good value, considering the brand.
There were definitely speakers around this price point, that would have been a better value, especially if you had a larger room and needed you needed more output.
Still pretty inexpensive though, considering the manufacture.
Aesthetics - 7.5
Like the Motion 12 I reviewed, I’m not a fan of the looks. The cloth cap that Martin Logan used for the dipole configuration in the 12’s, transferred over to these 10’s, even though they aren’t dipole speakers.
I’m also not a fan of smaller towers for some reason. I always thought small towers look a little awkward for some reason so I’d likely just grab a nice pair of bookshelf speakers instead.
They aren’t ugly or anything, just not my cup of tea, that’s all.
Price Paid Value - 8.5
For what these seem to sell for used, I no doubt got a great deal. Getting a pair of Martin Logan speakers under $300 is almost always guaranteed to be a deal, especially if it’s a pair of towers.
