Mild climate and fertile soils of Antalya establish a unique environment for agriculture and livestock development in the region. Agriculture and livestock production form a considerable part of regional GNP and employment sector. Crop production, livestock farming and livestock products in Antalya make 4.7 million Turkish liras in bulk GNP of Turkey. Antalya is the major producer and importer of vegetables, fruits, flower products, medical and aromatic herbs, spices in the country. Greenhouse production of Antalya makes 53% of total greenhouse production over Turkey, considerable amount of products exported abroad. Main crops are: tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and eggplants.
