This is a 911 that you can’t help but smile at when you see it. This Porsche 911 Targa is currently in our collection with only 53,000 actual miles. Its previous owner purchased the car in 1990 and only put 10,000 miles on it in the 29 years of ownership. The interior and most of the paint is original to the car and are proof that this car is low mileage and has been well kept. The condition and rarity make it a great investment and addition to any collection.
Being a 1972 model year 911, this is a car that is endearingly coined an “oil flapper” – referring to the external oil filler located on the rear quarter panel. Porsche’s aim in 1972 was to improve weight distribution by relocating the oil reservoir, however they quickly reverted to the original design one year later due to consumers mistaking it for a gas tank and adding fuel to their oil. A quirky moment in auto design history which makes this unique one-year only feature quite collectible.
Due to the 911T being the entry-level trim package at the time, its not often we come across an example in such original condition. It presents amazingly well with all components looking like new, but in original condition. The classic tangerine/black combo coupled with the bright brushed targa bar and polished Fuchs wheels ensures this well-loved 911 turns heads and wins nodding approvals from casual fans and hardcore Porschephiles alike.
Since arriving at Makellos Classics, the car has been gone through by our Porsche factory trained technicians. The car has been given a thorough detail and is ready to be enjoyed!
