NOTES ON POWER UNIT OUTPUT CONSUMPTION
1. Stationary DCC (sound on or off) Locos usually draw about 0.1A
2. Running at Full Speed about 0.35A in good running order of course with no lights on or fitted.
3. Adding more Locos may not always add up by just by multiplying that 0.35A figure by the Locos running on the said connected Layout.
4. Here's an actual Layout running example - 6 Locos running at varying realistic speeds & pulling various Rolling Stock with an additional 4 Locos just sat idle. All DCC. Total pull was only 0.7A. Sped up that went up to 0.8A.
5. It really is up to how you feel, how long running sessions are, how labour intensive these are with Locos running and what you’re running on top. For example, Lights, Signals, Accessory Decoders, etc & if these are running off a separate Power Supply, as usual, or not?
6. Finally the 4.0A Output versions are larger, better wired & do cost more for good reason but, it may be money well spent if you're an Exhibitor, etc too. It's up to you at the end of the day. I personally prefer the 4.0A Power Supply.
