"The Fridericus-Rex-Grenadiermarsch ( Armeemarsch II, 136 ( Armeemarsch II, 198)) was composed in the middle of the 1860s by the Prussian military musician Ferdinand Radeck . In the trio of the march he used the melody with which the composer Carl Loewe had imbibed the ballad Fridericus Rex ( latin for Frederick II of Prussia ) , written shortly before by Willibald Alexis . In this period of the Prussian expansion policy, in which Frederick the Great again received great reverence, Radeck's march as well as Loewe's ballad enjoyed great popularity with his name.

Even today the Fridericus-Rex-Grenadiermarsch belongs to the most famous German military marches . It is one of the tradition marches of the 10th Panzerdivision in Sigmaringen , the field army group of the Bundeswehr as well as generally the armored combat groups ."
