This is a ride aboard the M.V Chelan from Sidney, British Columbia, Canada to Anacortes, Washington, USA through the San Juan Islands. This was recorded on September 20th 2014, the last day of summer service with a mid-day departure directly to Anacortes from Sidney.
This ferry is known locally as the "Ferry between Friends" linking two twinned towns with one another via the San Juan Islands.
The MV. Chelan was built in 1981, and is one of only two vessels in the Washington State Ferries' fleet certified to run this special, international route. The other vessel suitable for this route is the M.V Elwha, which was built in 1967.
