Ceruminolith Removal in a Cat's Ear

This shows removal of a Ceruminolith, a hard concretion of wax in the horizontal ear canal , often in contact with the tympanic membrane., These result as a consequence of a failure of epithelial migration which normally keeps the ear canal clean. This mechanism is often permanently switched off and regular syringing every few months is sometimes necessary.  This procedure is difficult to do safely without a video otoscope.
