About The Talk:
Pandit Kota Venkatachalam was a vedic scholar who became the Sankaracharya of a Sringeri upa-peetham. Responding to distortions in Indian chronology by western Indologists, he reconstructed it from Sruti and Smriti, providing a complete framework. He identifies the distorters and distortions; completely reconciles the reconstructed chronology across Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and foreign texts; providing all the references for it.
Panditji’s methodology was multi-disciplinary although he considered ancient texts the primary evidence. He established the sheet anchor first (Mahabharata war), correlated geneaologies from Puranas, Itihaasas, contemporary literature of Bharat, Nepal, Kashmir and foreign sources for “synchronism”. He was the first to promote the “Out of India” theory in 1949 as a rebuttal to AIT. Many titles were conferred on him for his work, the most notable one being “Bharata Charitra Bhaskara” which means “The rising sun of Bharatiya Itihaasa.
Purva Paksha: This part presents the size of the problem to be solved. Western indologists wilfully introduced distortions to reduce the antiquity of the Bharatiya civilization in order to fit a biblical timeframe. William Jones, in making Chandragupta Maurya the contemporary of Alexander moved Bharatiya Itihaasa forward by 1207 years. He rejected everything before Kaliyuga, doctored dates, removed 1000 years before and 1200 years after the Mahabharata war – removed Vikramaditya and Salivaha claiming that they were fictitious. Panditji concludes that Bharatiya Itihaasa was written by Western philologists using very skimpy and questionable evidence!
