Why straws suck: The topic of straw pollution is an important one and skipping the straw easiest thing you can do right now to help protect our world's oceans.
We all know plastic straws are bad. They hurt turtles, kill marine life and can even poison you! Straw pollution is a major contributor to ocean plastic pollution and a plastic straw ban is a viable option for cities like Seattle (straws banned July 2018) and states like California (banned plastic straws Sept. 2018) But to keep our oceans clean of plastics we need to go much further. The great garbage patch isn't going away soon but we can all make a difference today! Take action today and Stop Sucking!

1. Straws are single-use plastics that are used, on average only 20 minutes:
2. In the U.S., 500,000,000 straws are used every day
3. There are more pieces of straw trash on our world's beaches than there are people on the planet.
4. 1 million seabirds and over 100,000 marine mammals die from plastics each year
5. By 2050, there will be more tons of plastic in the ocean and there will be fish.
6. People who regularly eat seafood eat an estimated 11,000 pieces of microplastics per year.
