Medial meniscus: McMurray’s test: external rotation
Lateral meniscus: McMurray’s test: internal rotation
Isolated ACL tear: Pivot Shift test and Lachman’s test.
ACL triad: ACL, lateral meniscus, MCL: Valgus stress test (0 degree and 30 degree), Pivot Shift test, Lachman’s test, and McMurray’s test: internal rotation.
Chronic ACL and meniscus tear (medial meniscus): Pivot Shift test, Lachman’s test, and McMurray’s test: external rotation.
Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL): posterior drawer test. Quadriceps active test, Dial test 90 degrees, Posterior Sag test.
Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and Posterolateral corner (PLC): Varus stress test (0 degree and 30 degree), posterior drawer test. Quadriceps active test, Dial test (90 degrees and 30 degrees), Posterior Sag test, and Reverse Pivot Shift test.
Posterolateral corner: Varus test (30 degrees), Dial test (30 degrees), and Reverse Pivot Shift test.
Medial collateral ligament (MCL) isolated: Valgus stress test (30 degrees)
Medial collateral ligament (MCL) combined: Valgus stress test (0 and 30 degrees)
Lateral collateral ligament (LCL) isolated: Varus stress test (30 degrees)
Lateral collateral ligament (LCL) combined: Varus stress test (0 and 30 degrees)
Pediatric patient with a knee injury, suspected salter fracture should get stress views x-ray to rule out a growth plate injury.
Growth plates are weaker than ligaments (may use MRI instead of stress views).
