SPECIAL NOTE: If a casting director doesn't give you the callback sides/songs ahead of time, do some research! See if you can find the script/score online or at a local library.
See what scenes other theatre companies used for their callbacks! One of my fave tips is simply googling "___(insert show)___ callback sides".
Hey everybody! It's me, Katherine Steele, with another episode of Theatre Thursday! In today's video, I'm going to share my top tips to nailing your musical theatre callback audition!
A callback is basically like a second round of auditions-- you go in for your initial audition, and if the casting director likes you (or wants to see more), they'll invite you to a callback audition. Like I mentioned, most of the time they will give material to prepare (often a song and scene from the show, and a dance combo). A lot of actors and actresses tend to get nervous about callbacks (myself included), but I promise they are a lot less scary then they seem! Personally, I like callbacks better than auditions!
So please enjoy my top callback advice for musical theatre!
