BMR is the amount of energy that our body wants to carry out basic physiological functions such as breathing, blood circulation, and maintaining body temperature while our body is at rest. BMR can be differentiated from person to person due to factors such as age, gender, weight, height, and body composition.  

BMR is only one factor that we can use to determine the daily calorie intake of a person. Other than BMR we have to consider the activity level of a person when we design a nutrition and exercise plan.
