Appropriate drafting of and responding to discovery is the topic of this episode of Quillian’s Litigation Fundamentals. Series creator Henry M. Quillian III addresses the theme of discovery with other firm attorneys with an emphasis on seeking appropriate knowledge and avoiding missteps.

Being intentional and laser focused from the onset– especially as it relates to interrogatories–is imperative to the discovery process. Smartly planning your number of interrogatories and working with the court if more are needed is a wise path. Henry reminds the group to follow statute 91126 in that interrogatories must be facts that are reasonably calculated to lead to the discovery of admissible evidence.

Other considerations in the discovery process include duty to supplement interrogatories and understanding objections to discoveries, such as privilege. In summary, the best prepared attorneys should focus on reasonability and compliance.
