Prussian Blue Layout Formula: https://www.madmodder.net/index.php/topic,12546.0.html G'day everyone. I have been in need for a tough layout fluid for marking out my parts that I want to machine. The permanent oil and alcohol based markers that I have used for machining have been a great solution for quick marking out, but suffer from poor longevity as they can be easily scratched or rubbed off. And even after trying 10 different marker types, that all suffered from this in various circumstances, especially when using cutting fluid. The best solution is to use an off the shelf layout fluid, but they can be very difficult and expensive to obtain in Australia, and to my knowledge, other countries outside North America. A shellac based layout fluid with a dye has ben referenced in several machinery books that I own and I thought I should try making it. The pigments that it calls for, and the ones I recommend are gentian violet or Prussian blue, but I was able to get great results from off the shelf fabric dye from my local art store, although the final result was slightly less saturated than I would have hoped for.
