A review from The Seattle Times
"The highlight, for me, was the opening ballet, a work I could watch over and over: Alexei Ratmansky’s “Wartime Elegy,” created for PNB last year and dedicated to the people of Ukraine — and finding new poignancy during these doubly dark times. Ratmansky, who grew up in Ukraine, effortlessly merges two very different kinds of dance here: boisterous, folk dance-flavored playfulness, celebrating a joyful culture; and somber, achingly beautiful ballet that spoke of anguish and loss, with arabesques like gentle arrows and music (composed by Valentin Silvestrov, with lovely solo piano by Christina Siemens) of a piercing purity."
