Following an appropriate sleep window can mean going to bed much later than you are used to. This is the intention since it strengthens sleep drive and helps make the bed a long-term trigger for sleep by associating the bed with sleep rather than wakefulness.

Creating and strengthening an association between the bed and sleep is a core intention of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I).
