Types of redox reactions
A redox reaction is any type of reaction in which there is a change in an atom's oxidation state.
Substances that having ability to oxidize other substances (cause them to lose electrons) are known to be oxidizing and are known as oxidizing agents, oxidants, or oxidizers., the oxidizing agent removes electrons from another substance, and is t reduced. As it accepts electrons the oxidizing agent is called an electron acceptor. the ones having the ability to reduce other substances are known to be reductive or reducing and are known as reducing agents, reductants, or reducers. The reducing agent transfers electrons to another substance therefore is itself oxidized.
Comproportionation is a chemical reaction in which two reactants containing the same element but with a different oxidation number, form a product having the elements involved reach the same oxidation number.
A combination reaction or synthesis reaction is a reaction in which two or more elements or compounds or reactants combine to form a single compound or product.
Some compounds that break down when heated, forms two or more products from one reactant. This type of reaction is called thermal decomposition.
Displacement Reaction means an atom displaces another atom that is part of a compound and replaces it.
