The glory of Shivling in Gupteshwar Dham cave in Rohtas district has been known since ancient times in the ancient Shivling of Bihar. In relation to this Gupta Dham, it is a legend that Lord Shiva, who was seated with mother Parvati on Mount Kailash, was pleased with the austerity of Bhasmasura and gave him the boon of devouring power as soon as he laid his hands on someone's head. Bhasmasura ran to lay his hand on his head to test the boon he had received from Shiva. Bhole ran away from there and hid in the secret place of this cave. Seeing this help of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini and destroyed Bhasmasura. However no authentic evidence is available about the antiquity of Guptadham cave. Archaeologists have not yet been able to decide whether this cave is man-made or natural. There is intense darkness in the cave, it is not possible to go inside the artificial light. Situated on the hill, the gate of this sacred cave is 18 feet wide and 12 feet high arched. After going inside the cave about 363 feet, there is a huge pit, which holds water throughout the year. Devotees call it 'Patalganga'. After going a little ahead of it, there are visions of Shivalinga. Water always drips from the top on the natural Shivalinga located inside the cave. Devotees accept this water as Prasad. In addition to the month of Sawan, a fair is also held at this place on the occasion of Saraswati Puja and Maha Shivaratri. Let us tell you that to go to Gupta Dham, one has to go through many inaccessible roads and hills.

4-#PilotBabaDham,
The specialty of Pilot Baba Dham in Sasaram in the district is that all the religions have been accommodated here in the campus. An 80 feet tall Buddha statue has been constructed in the Ashram complex. There is a huge crowd of devotees to see the Somnath temple here, although this temple is not yet fully built. At the entrance of the temple is a marvelous statue of Lord Shiva 110 feet high. This complex depicts all the events in his life with a large statue of Lord Buddha which enchants the devotees.

5-#SherShahSuriTomb,
Sher Shah Suri's tomb is a major tourist attraction of the district. This tomb was built during Sher Shah's life as well as during the reign of his son Islam Shah. Its construction was completed on 16 August 1545, 3 months after Sher Shah's death. This mausoleum in Sasaram is situated amidst artificial lake. This mausoleum is an excellent specimen of Islamic architecture. It is also known as the second #TajMahal of India.

6-#MaaTaraChandiTemple,
Maa Tarachandi Temple is located in the city of Sasaram. Among other Shakti Peethas in India, this Peetha also occupies the position of the main Shaktipeeth. There is a legend about this Peeth that right eye fell from the circle of Sati's eye and fell right here, which came to be known as Tara Shaktipeeth. It is said that Maharishi Vishwamitra named this Peeth Tara. Actually, it was here that Parashuram defeated Sahastrabahu and worshiped mother Tara. Mother Tara appeared as a girl in this Shaktipeeth and killed Chand here and called Chandi.

Among other destinations in Rohtas district, you can also see the fourth longest 1407 meter dam in the world, which is situated on the Indrapuri Barrage Son River.


#JhanjharkadFestival- Jhanjharkad Festival is 6 km from Sasaram. There are about a dozen small waterfalls between Jhanjharkund and Dhoom Kund on the Kaimur mountain range in the south. This is the place where the people of Sikh (Angrehari) community organize this festival.
