Rabba Mere Haal Da Mehram Tu have been sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Baiju Mangeshkar and composed by Baiju Mangeshkar. Sufi music is perhaps a generic term used today but Sufi poetry was originally called Kafi. It is usually composed in certain typical ragaas and based on Hindustani classical music. Here in this album the composer Baiju Mangeshkar attempts a more melodious and modern appeal yet keeping the sanctity and purity of the poetry intact and keeping the spirit and great tradition of Hindustani music alive. Perhaps for the first time, Sufi poetry in this album has also been infused with a delicate influence of soul and gospel music especially in the song Rabba mere haal da mehram tu, the duet version. One can safely claim Sufi kalaam composed and sung as a duet with western harmonies too is a first attempt in this genre and is certainly not very common.
