This video shows how i built a waterfall filter for a stream I'm adding to my large dream pond. A waterfall filter needs to be able to move large volumes of water through. At the same time we want to incorporate surfaces that can be colonised by good bacterias, trap sediments and be easily maintained. I think this design achieves those goals. But feel free to make modifications.This filter should work in much the same way as an expensive professional waterfall filter.

Here is a list of the equipment used to build the filter as well as the pump that I'm using to run it (Some of the links may be affiliate links which means i may receive a small commission if you make a purchase:

- One food grade olive barrel 220 (58gal) You only need half or you can use another suitable container. These can usually be found on second hand websites for around $10-15.

- 1 x 50mm uni seal available on amazon (https://amzn.to/3gFDY2R)

-1 x 90mm uni seal (you could also use a 4 inch or 100mm)

- Small section of 50mm pressure pipe

- Small section of 90mm stormwater pipe or 100mm if you used a 100mm uni seal

- 500 bio balls or similar media available on amazon (https://amzn.to/3vwdEhf)

- Mesh washing machine bag if the bio balls don't come with one.

- Heavy duty filter sponge large enough to cover the base of the container.

-90 degree elbow fitting pressure 50mm

-Pond pump. Im using the jeboa DCP 15000 available on amazon (https://amzn.to/3gGWAQa)

- A few rocks or bricks.

Tools required:

- Drill and holes bits

- File

-Soapy water

-Hack saw
