Vintage Guitars have launched the V59 Icon model. This guitar is due for release in November 2020. Retailing at just £399 RRP in the UK, this is A LOT of guitar for not a lot of money! Vintage have a bit of a reputation for making great guitars that sit in a very affordable price point and many big artists and players have sat up and taken note of this. It's not uncommon to see these guitars out on the road. They're durable and they sound great. The V59 is quite obviously a vintage style Tele. It's been beaten, bruised and worked hard, but it still sings. The Eastern Poplar body is a good weight (Vintage correct apparently), its resonant and it feels like it's rock solid. The guitar, like all Vintage models, is filled with electronics and hardware from Wilkinson. You get an aged Wilkinson bridge, aged control plate and aged vintage style tuners. The Wilkinson pickups are hot but still retaining the vintage clarity and bite you'd expect from a real 50s Tele. Tele style guitars are meant to be no frills. This guitar is a block of wood with some strings and some frets, and that's exactly how it should be. The distressed black finish is totally matte and looks incredible. There are lots of dents, chips and bumps to simulate a guitar that's been around the block a few times. The neck is worn in with slight fretboard rolling for comfort. It feels played in. The finish on the next and fretboard is worn down to the wood in parts to capture the feel of a well loved instrument. All in all, for the money, this is a guitar that can't be ignored. It plays, sounds and feels like it should cost 3 times as much as it does.
