Melocactus bahiensis
Origin:  Eastern Brazil
Flower:  Pink blossoms and small red fruits afterwards.
Description:  A globular cactus with a ribbed stem that has a cephalium or “cap” with wool and brown bristles.  The body of the cactus is light to dark green that can grow up to 8 inches tall and in diameter.  Spines are short and curved.  This cactus is best for growers who have success with cultivating cacti.
Sun:  Partial sun
Water:  Water only when soil is dry.  Use well-drained cactus and succulent mix that contains no peat moss, which can be too acidic and retain moisture.
Frost:  Not frost hardy
