WHAT IS MINIMALLY INVASIVE BACK SURGERY?

Minimally invasive spine surgery minimizes the incisions (less than a penny in most cases) in an effort to reduce body trauma.
Surgeries of this nature are typically performed using an endoscope to guide surgeons, as well as thin needles.
When a patient undergoes minimally invasive spinal surgery, he or she may still have screws and rods placed in the spine, but the process is done with several smaller incisions rather than a single large incision. This approach results in less pain after the procedure, faster recovery, less blood loss during the procedure, and reduced scarring. This surgical method is also thought to reduce trauma to muscles and tendons in the spine, therefore producing less pain during recovery.

WHY MINIMALLY INVASIVE

MIS procedures cause less post-operative pain and discomfort. Studies have shown that patients undergoing minimally invasive back surgery report less pain and require smaller doses of pain relievers than patients undergoing traditional surgeries. Many of our patients boast that they didn’t have to use any pain relievers following their surgery.
