Grey butcherbird - Cracticus torquatus)

This Grey butcherbird (Cracticus torquatus) was having a nice little sing at Cooby Dam a few weeks ago. I messed with the EQ a bit to try and drop the background noise.

Grey butcherbirds are found throughout almost all of Australia, except for the Top End and some parts of the interior. I find them pretty attractive birds, but some people don't like them, particularly because of their habit of impaling prey to eat it later, including baby birds. I once found one eating another dead Grey butcherbird - well waste not want not!!
