Discovered by Amanda Lollar, Founder of Bat World Sanctuary, in the mid-to-late 1990s, this older footage shows the high intelligence and complicated social structure of Mexican free-tailed bats. This study was later expanded at the University of Texas in Austin, where it was further discovered that these bats use syntax; their chirps, trills and buzzes are sometimes arranged to create actual sentences. This video merely scratches the surfaces of what is yet to be discovered in the language of bats.
