Introduction:
Why couldn't we see disabled people around us? It's because we separated them into facilities assuming that they can't live by themselves. If the word, self-reliance means doing all the things by oneself, even able-bodied people can't say they are self-reliant. We, humans, are the creatures who need help. Able-bodied people and disabled people can live together if we acknowledge them. In today's lecture, I'm going to talk about the true meaning of self-reliance based on my story with my sister who was staying in facility for 18 years.
