Peshmerga forces arrive at Turkish border en route to Kobani

(29 Oct 2014) Military vehicles carrying weapons and supplies for Peshmerga forces crossed the border from northern Iraq into Turkey early on Wednesday morning, en route to Syria to help in the fight against Islamic State militants.
Military personnel transporting the arsenal were given a heroes send off at the Ibrahim Khalil border crossing, with crowds cheering on soldiers as they passed through.
The weapons convoy will travel through Turkey on its way to Kobani, which has been under siege for weeks by IS forces.
Peshmerga troops arrived at Turkey's Sanliurfa international airport earlier on Wednesday, from where they will make their way to Kobani.
Last week the Kurdish Parliament agreed on sending Peshmerga forces to help Kurdish Syrian fighters in their battle against IS forces besieging the city.
