Chopper was one of a kind. Always the protector. The day I had to put Chopper down is a day we will never forget.
My husband was in the hospital waiting for a donor match, as he was in need of a heart transplant. He had been there for 3 months. My husband wanted me to bring Chopper to the hospital so he could see him through the window, but Chopper was sick with cancer of the spleen and it would have been a long ride for chopper. We decided against it. By the following day and, Chopper was so bad and in so much pain, I had to take him in to be put down. After the vet gave Chopper the shot, I got down on the floor, laid my head on Choppers back and listened as he took his final breath. And just as he took that last breath, my husband received word a heart donor match was found. He would be heading to surgery within a few hours.
During Choppers lifetime, he put himself between his family members and harms way on so many occasions. On November 10, 2016, we believe Chopper gave himself to save my husband.
