Today we are talking about the original "diet" Les Paul - the late 80s Gibson Les Paul Custom "Lite." This model was introduced in response to players saying the Les Paul was too heavy / didn't have the best upper fret access. While it definitely addresses these common complaints, they only lasted a few years before they were left for the history books until Gibson USA brought them back first in 2014. These later influenced models such as the Les Paul Custom Axcess.
1987-1989 are the main years of production. Prototypes in 1986 and I bet you might find a handful from early '90 out there
