Hey Everyone,
Here we came with the brand new KOLKATA METRO RAKES getting shipped from ICF Chennai!

As I'm waiting for this from long ago finally it came to my hand! Suddenly my friends informed me that they read in newspaper that the new rakes are arriving today in the city! Finally I saw a post in facebook that the new rakes are spotted in Dum Dum Jn.! So I haven't wasted a single time and got away to capture the brand new MEDHA Prototype rakes for METRO RAILWAY KOLKATA! A sudden diversion of the route of this rake created a problem for me as the planned route was Chennai - Kharagpur - Asansol Jn - Naihati - Belgharia but unfortunately the rakes came from the other way it followed the planned route upto Kharagpur but haven't gone to Asansol Junction any more, it came through Andul - Dankuni Junction Bhattanagar Loop line and proceeded through CCRly link to Dum Dum Junction with WAG9 coupled to it after that a BGA Shunter WDS6R was attached to it with Southern Railway based 2 ICF coaches and with the brand new rakes! They at first hauled the rake at a speed of 20kmph upto Belgharia Station through 3rd line from Dum Dum Junction and after that there is a cross-over in Belgharia which connects 3rd line to the down 4th Line and this 4th line connects to the NOAPARA Carshed of Metro Railway, Kolkata and the crossover is from the underneath of Belgharia overbridge and that line which diverges through that connect to IR line to Metro line! For everyone's information Metro Railway, Kolkata is broad gauge it was not using standard gauge so the new rakes are always dispatched using this way Metro Railway, Kolkata is the only Metro System in India which is under Indian Railway and for those who are saying that is new AC EMU like Mumbai's AC EMU check either there are pantograph or not! Have you ever seen any EMU without pantograph? Yes these rakes looks exactly like Mumbai's AC EMU rakes both are MEDHA make rakes but they are not!

The rake, the first of two ordered by Metro, is at its final stages of finishing and will provide greater riding comfort and energy saving. The rake will have improved nose cone design and a top speed of 80 km per hour. It will also use a new technology of regenerative braking that will send back power to the system whenever brakes are applied.
The doors will be wider and so will the vestibules. The width of the doors at present is 1,200 mm. In the new rake, it will be 1,400 mm. The width of the vestibule at the moment is slightly more than 2ft. In the new rake, this will be 3ft, allowing easier movement for passengers in case of emergencies. The motorman's cabin will also be far more advanced with state-of-the-art technology. In fact, the motormen would also be able to control the amount of power drawn from the system. If there are fewer passengers, power drawn will be lesser. In this way, 30% energy will be saved.
