The Pyrenean goat breed has historically been distributed throughout the western Pyrenees, from the Atlantic to the Upper Garonne and Aragon. Since ancient times it has been a goat highly prized for its rusticity and milky capacity.
Pyrenean goats are svelte, woolly and with an arc-shaped antler, representatives of the ancient Aegagrus goat. During the twentieth century its census has been reduced. In the two slopes of the Pyrenees, other populations of goats have penetrated with which it has been mixed. Today there are small differences between the French and Spanish goat populations.
