So I decided to upgrade my dashcam game by buying an actual dashcam!  This one is one of the more expensive ones out there, but since I can't get a video card, I bought this instead.

***Note from Nextbase: The glare filter is actually removable just by unthreading it completely. I was unaware of this fact prior to publishing; sorry if any confusion was caused!

[[[UPDATE - 2023-01-28]]] After roughly two years of use, the battery retains less than 10% of its original capacity.  I have the camera configured to turn off 30 seconds after it loses power, but it usually goes blank after less than 5 seconds as its battery dies.  By Spring, I expect it to be less than 1 second. [-End Update]

Download raw video from Nextbase Cloud (Thanks to the increase in viewership, reuploaded 21 June.)  Will exist until about 21 July, 2022 : https://mynextbase.com/video/TT45X

** I am not compensated in any way for this review. It's not monetized through YouTube and Nextbase did not ask me to do it. However, I will appreciate an upwards thumb tap/click if you're feelin' up to it. **

Other camera notes:
-Enabling Image Stabilization reduces the field of view. I like this. However when using in 4K, the camera records at a lower resolution and scales it up (booo). Side by side, difference of quality is minimal. However, due to the jumpiness, I don't use Image Stabilization.
-Maximum supported memory card size is 128 GB. -Camera uses MiniUSB (don't know why; maybe because more durable)
-I contacted Nextbase support several times and each time they were 24 - 48hrs responsive and eager to help. The web-based chat on their website is quicker.
-When "calibrating" your glare filter, Nextbase recommends using a white sheet of paper in place of what's glaring to ensure you filter it out as completely as possible.
-Due to the 15 second "reachback" limitation, when you see something you want to save, you have to be quick. The camera jiggle as you press the button interferes with the ability to keep stable video, often before a "scene" finishes playing out.  I am getting better at keeping the camera still will pressing, but I don't think I'll ever get perfect.

It took me a long time to put this together. I learned that my voice gets quieter and quieter the longer I talk, so audio was done in multiple takes, and levels are all over the place, despite massive improvement working with Audacity. The biggest issue I had was when I improved one thing, that meant I had to improve or change three other things to make it flow (video/audio matching included). By the time I finished my first draft, it was a month later than I wanted it to be, and I still had a lot of work left. Fast forward another two weeks, and here we are.  At some point I even bought stock music to use.  Between working, shepherding kids and cats, and gaming, this is the "good enough" version.  Blocking plates would take another month.

Tools used:
Humble Bundle Big Music Pack 2 by Andrew Sitkov
Irfanview (for simple cropping and unresampled resize)
Paint Shop Pro 2018 (for images with text with shadow)
LG V20 (for recording camera removal, and for recording audio commentary)
Audacity (to remove "uh"s, amplify narration overall)
Magix Movie Studio 16 (for everything else)
