The fall of Austria-Hungary saw
The fall of Austria-Hungary saw tremendous change in Eastern Europe as peoples who had been oppressed for centuries, from Poland to the Balkans, gained independence. It also saw the end of the 8-century old house of Habsburg and the birth of republicanism in Austria.
