The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache (UWC) National Forest in Utah has world-renown powder snow that draws millions of visitors to the forest each winter and is home to five alpine ski resorts.

Special-Use Permits issued by the Forest Service authorize ski resorts to operate on National Forest System lands. On the UWC, the Forest Service collaborates closely with ski resorts to provide opportunities for the public to enjoy premier winter recreation along the Wasatch Front.

In Winter 23/24, Thomas Hart, also known as Racer Tom, went out to set a Guinness World Record at one of the UWC’s ski resorts authorized through a Forest Service Special-Use Permit.
