Nike Zoom Fly 5 Review

—Intro:
I loved the first two version of the Zoom Fly as they lined up very closely with the Vaporfly, but just not as premium. Unfortunately I feel like the Zoom Fly has been getting further and further away from the Vaporfly uptempo training campion it once was, and now is just a played everyday trainer.

—Upper: 🟢
I actually like the upper on this shoe. It was pretty simple, kept me locked in, and had enough padding to be comfortable on longer runs.

—Midsole: 🔴
Like many, I was hoping a ZoomX core would help make this shoe super. Unfortunately, the glued together recycled ZoomX chunks surrounded by EVA foam make this shoe feel very firm. It did soften up after some breaking in, but then the carbon plate got in the way and still made it feel too firm. I think a pebax or nylon plate would’ve been the better move here.

—Outsole: 🟢
The outsole had pretty decent grip and durability.

I was hoping this would be Nike’s version of the SC Trainer: a high stack, soft, bouncy shoe with a little pop, but to me it fell short. Have you tried this shoe? Do you like it? What are use cases for it?
