Today I spoke with Dr. Darrel Ray, the founder of the non-profit organizations Recovering from Religion and The Secular Therapy Project.

We touched on many topics, including:

• How a profound understanding of anthropology, sociology, and psychology deeply affect our view of the world and ourselves.
• Understanding how the topics of sexuality, fear of hell/Armageddon, and social isolation create intense trauma for those who are leaving their religion.
• Realizing that Christianity is just another form of ancestor worship.
• Understanding how childhood indoctrination into religion can induce immense trauma.
• The importance of healthily working through the freedom and new choices that arise post-deconversion.
• Unraveling the shame and guilt that are prevalent in religions.
• The importance of knowing and being comfortable with your own self sexually and to embrace eroticism of your body and mind.
• Understanding that Christians are addicted to the "spiritual porn" of their fantasy worldview, where they are more in love with their fantasy world than with the reality of this world.
