This has NOT been patched! Breeding mechanics work the same in Ultra Sun and Moon as in Sun/Moon, and will work in all Gen 7 games!

Common Questions:
Q: Does this work in USUM?
A: YES, this works in the Ultra Sun and Moon games as well! Breeding mechanics are the same between all generation 7 games.
Q: Has this method been patched?
A: No this still works, and will never be patched (they'd have to redo all breeding mechanics.)
Q: Do I need the Destiny Knot for this method?
A: No, but if you don't use the D-knot with the magikarp parent, you can't put it on the swapped parent or you will break the sequence. You must stick with using the destiny knot or not using it all the way through this method.
Q: Do I need the Everstone?
A: No it simply secures nature, which is very helpful but optional.
Q: I hatched 30 eggs and none were shiny, now what?
A: Jump back to step one, which is to SAVE. If you SR without saving and hatch another 30, you are simply hatching the same 30 non-shiny eggs over again.
