Why Do I surf Ugly, Windy, and/or High-Tide Conditions??

This particular little spot very much prefers a low tide and clean conditions.  If it's breaking at all, the wave is way shorter on a higher tide, and any rumples up the face make it MUCH harder to surf.  So, why do I still paddle out on days that are so bad kids are out goofing around on inner tubes?  Three major reasons:

1.)  I'll be surfing alone or with very few other people.
2.)  You can still find little moments of glory if you get enough reps in.
3.)  I tend to kook a lot less when no one else is out.

I hardly ever surf the "good" spots when they are actually good.  There are usually just too many people on them.  But occasionally, I'll find little windows in inopportune conditions.  Most of the waves are crap in the overall session when it's windy or high-tide, but if you keep plugging away, you'll often find a wave or turn or two that makes the whole session worth it!
