SEATTLE — The WSU Board of Regents approved a tuition increase for the 2024-25 academic year on Friday.

The board of regents approved a 3% raise in tuition for graduate and undergraduate students in a meeting in Seattle late last week.

Tuition will increase $329 from $10,976 to $11,305 for full-time resident undergraduate students.

However, students in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences’ Doctor of Pharmacy program, the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program and the College of Nursing’s Master of Nursing program, won't see an increase in tuition for the upcoming school year.

The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine will propose tuition rates to the board of regents in March.

CFO Leslie Brunelli said tuition rates for resident undergraduate students are close to rates from 10 years ago. According to WSU, resident undergraduate tuition rates cannot be increased by more than the average annual percent growth of the media hourly wage in the past 14 years.

WSU says the university expects to incur increased costs with its first contract with WSU Academic Student employees.

“At the end of the day, I think when we talk about strengthening Washington State University, this is a key component, because our graduate students are key to our research enterprise,” WSU President Kirk Schulz said. “We need exceptional graduate students that feel supported, compensated, and want to come to Washington State University.”
